Spring Cleaning Tips for those Forgotten Spaces
1. Light Fixtures
For hard to reach places such as ceiling fans, Swiffer is great at getting all the dust off without having to get a ladder to get the job done.
For other light fixtures, taking a wet cloth and wiping them down will get rid of the dust. If you want to go the extra mile, you can also wipe down your light bulbs. Just make sure you turn them off and let them cool down for a few minutes before cleaning.
2. Furniture
Place all your furniture décor somewhere safe where it won’t break while you give your furniture a deep cleaning. Vacuum, dust, and wash. Use furniture cleaner or polish of your choice with a microfiber cloth to remove dirt and grime and don’t forget to also vacuum underneath.
3. Wall
When cleaning your walls, be gentle not to scrape off any paint or damage the wall itself. A good product to use to remove any stains off the wall is Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. All it takes is putting some water on the eraser and wiping and rubbing away the dirt or stains off the wall.
4. Closet
Let’s start with this, “If you don’t use it donate it.” This is the best way to de-clutter your closet and get rid of things you don’t need and/or haven’t worn in years.
While emptying out your closet remember to also clean, dust, and vacuum the shelves and the floor. Visit Omega Shelving for additional tips on how to Spring Clean Your Closet.
5. Mattress
Spring is the perfect time to flip your mattress if you don’t do so regularly. Make sure you also clean your mattress as well. Sprinkle baking soda onto the bed once you have taken off all sheets and bedding. Let the baking soda sit for at least fifteen minutes, then vacuum.
Do you have stains on your mattress from kids or a spill? Pinterest has many suggestions on how to tackle those stains and make your mattress look like new.
6. Fridge
We know the fridge is usually the messiest to clean because you have to take all the food out and clean drawers one by one. Taking it one step at a time doing sections of the fridge will make it easier. Start by throwing away any food that’s old or has already expired. Then, wipe everything down to remove any spills or food crumbs. With a cleaning product of your choice, clean the drawers, and the refrigerator walls. Also, when cleaning the drawers make sure you take them out so that you can clean under and around them. Clean each drawer separately and wipe them dry before placing back in the fridge.
7. Balcony/Patio
Move everything off the patio so that you can sweep the floor for any dirt or leaves. Next, grab a hose or a bucket and really wash away all the dirt buildup from the winter. Don’t forget to give the screen door a good rinse.
You may also want to take this opportunity to redecorate your patio or balcony. If you really want to get creative you can always add some flowers for color and decoration. A Spring Cleaned Balcony is a great way to welcome in the new season while providing yourself with a relaxing environment to listen to the birds and watch the trees and flowers bloom.
We understand that cleaning isn’t always fun but with a good playlist and some snacks you can get the job done in no time.
Even if you don’t like cleaning, once you’re done and you see how amazing your house or apartment looks you’re going to feel great and have a sense of accomplishment.
