During this time of year, many of us could use a gentle reminder… take a moment for all of the joys of the season. Put aside a few moments for you and your favorite hot beverage of choice (hot chocolate with extra marshmallows anyone???) Sit down, put your feet up and relax. If this post helped you to smile, or take an extra moment for yourself, feel free to share it with others.
Happy Holiday Season to each of you!
Throughout the year we try to show you, our residents, just how much we appreciate you by holding our Resident Appreciation Events. However, sometimes that just isn’t enough. So we wanted to say, “Thank You for choosing to call Hirschfeld home!”
We are very thankful for each of you!

In honor of breast cancer awareness, our teams at Eagles Walk, Ridge View, Steeplechase, & Tall Oaks are collecting donations. The donation collections started on Lee National Denim Day here at Hirschfeld; where our staff was able to donate $5 in exchange for wearing jeans to work on October 3, 2014. Since breast cancer is something that affects so many of us we couldn’t think of a better way to spend our resident appreciation event this month than to give to such a great cause. If you would like to join us and make your own donation please stop by the leasing office as we will be accepting donations at our apartments homes in White Marsh (Eagles Walk & Ridge View,) Cockeysville (Steeplechase,) and Laurel, MD (Tall Oaks.) Thank you to all of those who have already donated, and thank you in advance to those of you who will be donating! Remember, all donations must be received by close of business on October 31, 2014.
Odds are you run in circles: work, friends, family…you know who you know. You love who you love. And those outside your circle are likely irrelevant to your life.
But consider the following quote: “Smile at strangers and you just might save a life,” words from a fellow named Steve Maraboli.
Steve has it right: one of the most important things we can do is help others, and that includes those we don’t know. Here are some creative ways to do just that. [Read more…]
Life is stressful. Life is hectic. Life is crazy, confusing, busy, non-stop, always going, always changing, often difficult, rarely easy.
Pick up the kids. Finish that big project at work. Pay your bills. Run an errand on your lunch break. It doesn’t seem to end, does it? But this trap of living that so many of us fall into – where we can’t find a second to remember what’s really important – can be reversed, with a little thought, care and effort.
Our next blog post will be about helping strangers, but today the focus is on what you can do to strengthen your interpersonal relationships with everyone from your closest friend to an old acquaintance.
So if you’re malnourished when it comes to food for the soul, read on and pick up 10 tips on connecting with the most important people in your life. These are acts of kindness, both big and small, that will brighten the galaxies of those around you. [Read more…]
“Hope for the best but prepare for the worst,” the old saying goes. A good adage, but for the intents and purposes of having your home ready for an emergency, “prepare for the worst” is the part to focus on. September is National Preparedness Month, so read on and learn more about how you can ensure that you and your loved ones will have everything you need if (knock on wood) disaster strikes.
Unfortunate recent events have proven that extraordinary circumstances can quickly arise. Natural disasters like hurricanes or floods can impact any part of the country, and even more docile situations like massive, long-term blackouts can make for a sticky situation. You have to be ready, for yourself and your family. At the very least, when the zombie invasion hits you’ll be happy you read up on this. [Read more…]
