1. National Cherry Blossom Festival – March 20 – April 14, 2019
The annual National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. showcases thousands of blossoming cherry trees and multiple celebrations starting on March 20th through April 14th. The city-wide event features more than 200 international cultural performances and over 90 other special events. Among the most popular events are the Blossom Kite Festival, the National Cherry Blossom Parade, and the Japanese Street Festival. Most festival events are free to attend and various travel and hotel options are available.
2. National Cathedral Flower Mart – Friday, May 3 & Saturday, May 4, 2019
Since 1939, All Hallows Guild has held Flower Mart as a benefit for the Cathedral’s gardens and grounds. This year, join them for their 80th anniversary celebration with fun activities for the entire family. Enjoy traditional festival foods, ride the antique carousel, explore over 70 boutique booths, bring kids to the Children’s area for games and rides, and more!
3. Passport DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour (AWET) – Saturday, May 4, 2019
Washington, D.C.’s embassies open their doors to DC visitors and residents as part of the month-long Passport DC Event. AWET participants can travel the world without leaving DC as they experience the food, art, dance, fashion, and music of different countries. Plus, enjoy karate demonstrations, dance performances, sari wrapping lessons, henna demonstrations, and more.
4. National Wine & Food Festival – Saturday & Sunday, May 4 – 5, 2019
“Drink. Eat. Relax.” Experience the 10th annual Wine and Food Festival as world-renowned chef’s, artisanal craftsmen, and culinary pioneers with thousands of Metro DC’s foodies head to National Harbor for a World-Class, Waterfront, Culinary Event. Expect over 150 different international and local wines, beers, and spirits in an “all-you-care-to-taste” affair. Tickets start at $40.
5. Spring Wine Festival – May 17 – May 19, 2019
Join Mount Vernon for its most popular events of the year! Their Spring Wine Festival and Sunset Tour offers wine samples from Virginia’s finest wineries along with delicious food, live music, and spectacular views of Mount Vernon estate. Tickets start at $42 and VIP tables are also available.
